HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c253W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what inquiries he has made into the case of Miss Margaret Stevens of Burges Road, East Ham, a 17-year-old female clerk who left the Department of Social Security three months ago, but has since been paid £1,000 in back pay; and how soon the excess payment will be reclaimed.

Mr. Crossman

My inquiries have established that there was no such payment. Because of a regrettable error in the Department, payment of Miss Stevens's salary continued for two months after she left.
