HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c249W
84. Mr. John Hall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give an assurance that the information now being collated under the hospital activity analysis scheme, by which a detailed record of each patient attending a National Health Service hospital is sent to a regional computer storage unit, will maintain the anonymity of the patient.

Mr. Crossman

Although the scheme collects and analyses information obtained from a large number of individual cases it is not concerned with individuals as such and I can assure the hon. Member that strict medical confidentiality is observed at all stages.
