HC Deb 05 February 1970 vol 795 c194W
Q15. Mr. Rose

asked the Prime Minister whether he will now arrange to meet President Nasser and Mrs. Golda Meir and meanwhile impose an arms embargo on any state in the Middle East which refuses to recognise the sovereignty of existing states which are members of the United Nations Organisation.

The Prime Minister

No. As my right hon. Friend the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary told the House on 2nd February, we believe that the resumption of Dr. Jarring's Mission would provide the best hope for progress. Her Majesty's Government are continuing to play a full part in the four power talks with the aim of devising fresh guidance for Dr. Jarring. —[Vol. 795, c. 4–7.]
