HC Deb 05 February 1970 vol 795 cc187-8W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will discuss with the Israeli Government the possibility of an exchange of students between Great Britain and Israel and the extent to which both countries can assist one another in the advance of education in general, and the improvement in educational standards in the developing countries, in particular.

Mr. Luard

The Anglo-Israel Cultural Convention provides for educational cooperation between the two countries; and the British Council will have primary responsibility for discussing ways in which this might be improved. Co-operation with Israel over educational aid for developing countries is not at present envisaged.
