asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many women died directly or indirectly as a result of abortion operations in 1969.

Mr. Crossman

In the ten months ended 31st October, 1969 there were 22 registered deaths relating to abortion operations, of which 13 followed operations carried out in National Health Service hospitals or approved places.
