HC Deb 03 February 1970 vol 795 cc76-7W
84. Mr. Rose

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will study the feasibility of introducing special low-cost housing projects on a co-operative basis for young married couples in areas of high density of unfit habitations or for married students, nurses teachers or employees of firms where the numbers of such couples living in close promiximity would justify such a project.

Mr. Freeson

Co-ownership projects can already be submitted to the Housing Corporation. Costs have to be kept within reasonable limits for such projects to be viable, but I appreciate that such schemes might only partly meet the needs which my hon. Friend has in mind for extending housing association activity in this field. Local authorities have the powers to assist in this already.
