§ Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the average rent of municipally-owned dwellings in England and Wales, in the Greater London Council area and in the London Borough of Wandsworth, respectively; and what proportion of each average rent is attributable to interest charges.
§ Mr. Denis HowellOn 31st March, 1968, the average weekly rent of local authority dwellings in England and Wales was 37s. 11d.; for the Greater London Council's 46s. 3d.; and for a sample of London boroughs 51s. 10d. I am informed by the London Borough of Wandsworth that its average weekly rent for 1967–68 was 47s. 9d. The figures I have given make no allowance for rent rebates.
It is not possible to identify the proportion of rents attributable to interest charges.
