HC Deb 02 February 1970 vol 795 c51W
Mr. Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity (1) whether her safety regulations, made under the Factory Acts, cover people employed in exhibition halls;

(2) which of her regulations apply to people employed in exhibition halls to safeguard their safety, health and welfare.

Mr. Harold Walker

The only persons employed in exhibition halls who are covered by legislation for which I am responsible are those in employment covered by the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act, 1963, and Regulations made under the Act. The proposals for comprehensive new safety, health and welfare legislation which my Department issued to interested organisations in December, 1967, would have the effect of extending protection to all those employed in exhibition halls.
