HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 cc473-4W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authorities have completed the elimination of all slums in their areas; and whether he will take this into account when allocating the proposed new subsidies.

Mr. Amery

I believe that few authorities have done so, although in a number of areas the problem is not substantial. The reform of housing finance will have regard to the problems of housing authorities as they affect them in the future.

Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if local housing authorities which remove slums too quickly will be limited in their access to the Public Works Loans Board.

Mr. Channon

If the hon. Member will write explaining more fully the point he has in mind I will look into it.
