HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c474W
Mr. Parkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many houses he expects will have been built by local authorities for sale in 1970; and how many he expects to be built in 1971.

Mr. Channon

In the first 10 months of 1970 local authorities in England and Wales had completed 359 dwellings for resale. It is not possible to forecast the number for 1971, but it will be small.

Mr. Parkinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the local authorities now building houses for sale, and the local authorities who have permission to build for sale but have not yet begun building, respectively.

Mr. Amery

The following local authorities currently have dwellings under construction which are intended for resale: Swindon Borough Council, Lambeth (London) Borough Council, Stoke County Borough Council, Winsford Urban District Council, Huyton-with-Roby Urban District Council, Wortley Rural District Council.

The following local authorities have been given consent to undertake building for sale, but have not yet begun building: Cranbrook Rural District Council (final stage of three-part scheme), Worsley Urban District Council, Macclesfield Borough Council, Nantwich Urban District Council.
