HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 cc463-4W
Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans she has for reducing the admission age to the Open University to 18 years.

Mrs. Thatcher

The Open University is responsible for its own admission arrangements. I have asked the University authorities to consider the contribution it can make to the development of higher education provision in the future. It has agreed to examine the matter in consultation with other educational bodies and to let me have its conclusions by next May.
