HC Deb 18 December 1970 vol 808 c509W
Mr. Fowler

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much plastic strip is being used by area electricity boards, instead of clay or concrete covers, for the protection of cables carrying a voltage of up to 11,000 volts; and whether he will direct the discontinuance of the use of these strips until he has satisfied himself that they are in the interests of public safety.

Sir J. Eden

The Electricity Council assures me that, so far, there has been no indication that the use of plastic strip is in any way unsatisfactory on safety grounds. However, I am asking the Chairman to write to my hon. Friend.
