§ Mr. Laneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what advice he has received from his Advisory Committee on Race Relations since he took office: and what research has been initiated or evaluated as a result of that advice;
(2) what survey his Advisory Committee on Race Relations has made or published of existing and prospective research, together with recommendations for additional research, particularly in the field of the home-school environment; and if he will place a copy of any such survey in the Library, with an account of the extent to which those recommendations have been implemented by appropriate bodies.
§ Mr. MaudlingThe Committee has sent me an interim report, not calling for publication, about the way it is approaching its task, the work in progress or in prospect in various areas of interest, and the fields which it intends to examine more fully. In the light of the Committee's advice two new research projects have been put in hand with Home Office funds—one on the nature of the information available about immigrants in selected areas, and one on the attitudes of social workers to minority groups. If my hon. Friend has in mind a specific issue about the home-school environment, I would be glad to hear of it in more detail.
