§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proposals she has for assisting polytechnics in the choice of computers and computing equipment; and whether she will make available on a payment basis to local education authorities the advice available to universities and research establishments from the Computer Board.
§ Mrs. ThatcherThe advice of H.M. Inspectors and of the Computer Advisory Service of the Department of Trade and Industry is freely available to polytechnics and other further education establishments on the educational and technical aspects of computer provision. I have no plans to change the present scope of the Computer Board in the way my hon. Friend suggests.
