asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he proposes to initiate discussions with the trade unions concerned about his proposals for altering the structure of the British Steel Corporation.

The trade unions involved have been invited to meet my hon. Friend the Minister for Industry.

77. Mr. Michael Foot

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will undertake that any Government proposals for altering the structure of the British Steel Corporation will be presented to the House of Commons for legislative action only after the fullest and freest consultations with the corporation itself.

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on his proposals to hive-off certain parts of the steel industry to private ownership.
