HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 c190W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will give the reasons why he will not introduce the necessary amending legislation to permit vehicle owners to exhibit their road fund licences in the centre of their front windscreens.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

The law meets requirements as it stands.

Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is aware that under present legislation it is illegal for a vehicle owner to exhibit his road fund licence in any place other than the front nearside corner of the windscreen and that motorists in fact are exhibiting these in at least eight or more positions; and what action he has taken or intends taking to see that there is regularity in this matter.

Mr. Eldon Griffiths

Enforcement of the law on this point is a matter for the police.
