HC Deb 03 December 1970 vol 807 cc456-7W
78. Mr. Hannan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many private property owners have received to date grants and loans, respectively, in respect of their storm-damaged properties in Glasgow in January, 1968; and how many recipients completed the repairs;

(2) what were the total sums in grants and in loans, respectively, awarded to private owners for the repair of their storm-damaged properties in Glasgow in January, 1968; how much has been repaid; and what sum is still outstanding.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

£6.2 million has been paid by Glasgow Corporation, with the assistance of a Government loan of £3.9 million, for the repair of about 65,600 privately-owned houses. I am assured by the Corporation that these repairs have been completed. This money is recoverable from the individual owners by the Corporation who may reduce the amount recovered on hardship grounds.
