Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department by what percentage the Metropolitan Police, and K Division in particular, are short of their authorised establishment; and how the wastage of manpower in K Division, through voluntary premature resignations, compares with that in the force as a whole.
§ Mr. SharplesProvisional figures for the end of November indicate that the strength of the Metropolitan Police is 19.1 per cent. below authorised establishment. The corresponding figure for K Division is 20.2 per cent. In the first 439W eleven months of this year 650 police officers resigned from the Metropolitan Police without pension or gratuity. Of these, 27 were from K Division.
