HC Deb 03 December 1970 vol 807 c429W
4. Mr. English

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will make a statement on his future policy on immigration.

Mr. Maudling

I would refer the hon. Member to my speech in the debate on the Expiring Laws Continuance Bill on 25th November.—[Vol. 807, c. 478–9.]

40. Mr. Bidwell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to what extent in his forthcoming legislation on immigration he plans to alter the terms of the Ireland Act, 1949.

Mr. Maudling

I would ask the hon. Member to await the publication of the Bill foreshadowed in the Gracious Speech and meanwhile not to give weight to speculation in the Press.
