asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made towards the establishment of a health centre in Cumnock.

Following the meeting my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for Health and Education had with the local deputation led by the hon. Member on 23rd September, officers of the Scottish Home and Health Department were asked to have discussions locally about the possibility of health centre development in the Cumnock area. Informal local discussions are almost completed and a report will shortly be submitted to me. Thereafter I will write to the hon. Member.
