§ 50. Mr. Skinnerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans he has for changing the structure of local appeal tribunals.
§ Sir K. JosephA recent review of the number and distribution of Supplementary Benefit Appeal Tribunals has shown that appeals can be heard more speedily by concentrating the work in a smaller number of centres. After consulting the Council on Tribunals, I have decided to reduce the number of these tribunals from 151 to 119 and to re-locate some of them. Tribunal members are being informed of these changes which will take effect as from July, 1971.
