HC Deb 01 December 1970 vol 807 cc346-7W
Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) if he will give the increased yearly productivity per man employed in the electricity supply industry for each of the last 10 years;

(2) what has been the increased yearly productivity that has taken place in the electricity supply industry for each of the last 10 years.

Mr. Ridley

Figures for productivity depend on the definition of the term and more than one is available. I am accordingly asking the Chairman of the Electricity Council to write to the hon. Member giving details of the industry's system of measurement in recent years; and the consequential percentages.

Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) what is the number of manual workers employed in the electricity supply industry for each of the last 10 years;

(2) if he will give the yearly profits of the electricity supply industry for the last 10 years.

Mr. Ridley

I would refer the hon. Member to the published Annual Report of the Electricity Council which contain the figures he requests.
