HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 c369W
46. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many miners in the South Yorkshire coalfield during the past three years have taken advantage of Government retraining facilities.

Mrs. Castle:

Since September, 1967, 59 have been accepted for training at Government Training Centres. Of these 46 have started and 24 completed their courses. 31 applicants are still under consideration. There is room for many more now that we have opened our new centre at Wakefield.
