HC Deb 30 April 1970 vol 800 c377W
61. Dame Irene Ward

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many answers he has received from local education authorities in reply to his questions relating to British Standard Time; and how many authorities intimated that they wished the present system to be re-enacted and how many to revert to the old system.

Miss Bacon:

Of the 163 local education authorities in England and Wales, 74 are in favour of continuing British Standard Time, 29 would prefer a reversion to Greenwich Mean Time and 16 have expressed no firm opinion either way. Final replies are awaited from 44 authorities.
