HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 cc356-7W
Mr. Arthur Jones

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what has been the average time taken for decisions on planning appeals in England since the Town and Country Planning Act, 1968, came into operation.

Mr. Greenwood:

Statistics of monthly averages show that for cases dealt with by local inquiry the average time has varied between 35 and 42 weeks for appeals decided by the Minister and between 27 and 30 weeks for appeals decided by Inspectors. The comparable times for appeals decided by the written procedure are 28 and 35 weeks and 27 and 32 weeks respectively.
