HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 c321W
74. Mr. Lubbock

asked the President of the Board of Trade what further representations he has had from British and Commonwealth Shipping Limited since his decision that negotiations for the sale of British United Airways to the British Overseas Airways Corporation would be deferred pending consideration of a possible deal with Caledonian Airways.

Mr. Mason:

The Chairman of British and Commonwealth Shipping Company discussed the matter with me and informed me that in the circumstances the company was prepared to receive offers for the assets of British United Airways from Caledonian Airways or other bidders. Baring Brothers, who are acting on behalf of B.U.A., issued a prospectus on 23rd April and have asked for bids to be made within 28 days.
