HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 cc321-2W
75. Mr. Gordon Campbell

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will now make a statement on the safety of aircraft which are in the air when lightning strikes close airports without warning, following the provision as requested of information by the hon. Member for Moray and Nairn on 9th April.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts:

The hon. Member will by now have received a reply to his recent letter to me as a result of which I trust he is satisfied that the effect of the safety regulations has been to ensure that the safety of aircraft in flight was not adversely affected when recent lightning strikes closed aerodromes without warning.
