asked the Minister of Transport whether he will now make a statement about motorway routes across the Pennines, including the Sheffield-Manchester motorway.

Mr. Mulley:

On the Manchester-Sheffield route, I have nothing at present to add to the reply I gave to the hon. Member on 24th March.

Work is continuing on the feasibility study examining a possible new route between Derby and Stoke, and I expect to receive the results of the study within the next two months.—[Vol. 798, c. 332.]
