asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated loss of revenue arising from the abolition of selective employment tax together with a reduction of 3d., 6d" and Is., respectively, in income tax, and a 10 per cent, reduction in surtax.

The figures, on the basis of the Budget proposals, for the full year are £588 million for S.E.T. and £175 million, £350 million, £700 million and £30 million respectively for the direct tax reductions.
