asked the Minister of Transport what action he now proposes to reduce the level of noise on the roads.

Mr. Mulley

Regulations prescribing the maximum noise that may be made by new vehicles came into force on 1st April this year. I am discussing with the motor industry a programme of progressive reductions in future years.
