HC Deb 28 April 1970 vol 800 c283W
Mr. Brooks

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the proposal for a possible crude oil off-loading terminal off the coast of Anglesey, he will make a statement about the future role of the Mersey estuary, and its shore facilities, in the future handling of oil traffic destined for the Stanlow oil refinery.

Mr. Murray:

The initiative for port development rests with harbour authorities. I understand that the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board is considering possibilities for an offshore oil terminal in consultation with the oil interests concerned. Existing shore facilities serving Stanlow seem likely to continue in use.
