HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 c195W
52. Mr. Longden

asked the Minister of Technology what is the total amount of grant so far paid to the Scientists' Appointment Service; how many applications it has received, how many applicants it has placed in employment; and if he will make a statement on the future of the service.

Mr. Alan Williams:

£10,766 has been paid. The total number of applicants registered during the two years of operation was 1,103. At least 162 of these subsequently took employment in the U.K., but the number recorded as placed directly through the Scientists' Appointment Service was only 19. The service was brought to an end on 31st March, 1970.
