Mr. Bessell

asked the Minister of Transport if he will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of railway passenger services on which closure notices have been issued under the terms of the 1962 and 1968 Transport Acts, together with the dates of the publication of such notices, of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee hearings, of the Ministerial decisions, and of the implementation of these decisions, bringing the details published in the OFFICIAL REPORT on 28th February, 1966 and 21st December, 1966 up to date.

Mr. Mulley:

For the reasons given in my predecessor's answer to the hon. Member for Barkston Ash (Mr. Alison) on 3rd February, 1969, it is not possible to bring the 1966 information up to date in its original form. The procedure for the examination of closure proposals before publication has been overtaken by the consideration for grant aid under Section 39(1) of the Transport Act, 1968. However, the closure procedure under Section 56 of the 1962 Act remains essentially the same, and the up-to-date
