HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 c248W
Mr. Pardoe

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what consultations he has had with the Plymouth City Council about the development of an airport for Plymouth.

Dr. David Owen:

Discussions have taken place between the Ministry of Defence and the Plymouth City Council about the possibility of future defence requirements, namely, light aircraft aviation and Royal Marine helicopters being allowed for in the council's plans for a new civil airport. These discussions are progressing favourably but are not yet complete. There are however obvious advantages in avoiding if possible any duplication of facilities.
