HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 cc228-9W
88. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the programme and progress of the work of marine research in the North Sea.

Mr. Fowler:

Research supported by the Natural Environment Research Council covers such tonics as ocean circulation, coastal sedimentation, tides and surges, sea floor geology and geophysics, the biology of marine organisms, and the environmental aspects of marine pollution. The programmes are coordinated by the council with the work on fisheries research undertaken by the Fisheries Departments and the White Fish Authority. Progress is reported in the council's annual report and in the reports and scientific publications of the laboratories concerned.

If my hon. and learned Friend has a specific topic in mind perhaps he will write to me.
