HC Deb 27 April 1970 vol 800 cc202-3W
78. Mr. Sillars

asked the Minister of Technology, as a result of the Report of the Select Committee on Science and Technology of 13th April, 1970, if he will hold a meeting of heads of all fuel industries, with a view to amending the 1967 White Paper on Fuel Policy.

Mr. Benn:

The report is being carefully studied, and I am, of course, in continuing contact with the heads of the industries involved.

Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Technology (1) if he will make a statement to the House arising out of the Report of the Select Committee on Science and Technology on Generating Plant Breakdowns: Winter 1969–70;

(2) if, following the Report of the Select Committee on Science and Technology, he will put forward revised plans for the coal industry to enable the miners to assist the Central Electricity Generating Board and the South of Scotland Electricity Board in maintaining electricity demand for domestic and industrial consumers.

Mr. Benn:

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to a similar Question by my hon. Friend the Member for South Ayrshire (Mr. Sillars) today.
