asked the Minister of Technology whether practical trials were carried out during the Government's consideration of the effect of Concorde's boom on people and animals, and, in particular, persons riding horses.

Mr. Carmichael:

We took account not only of the experience of supersonic flying in this country but also of experience of other countries, in particular the U.S.A., where there is extensive supersonic flying and where most detailed studies have been made of the likely effects of sonic boom.
