HC Deb 24 April 1970 vol 800 cc186-7W
Mr. Fortescue

asked the President of the Board of Trade what use his Department makes of the National Giro for regular payments of salaries and pensions, and for other purposes; and, in view of the under-used capacity of Giro, whether he will consider using it more.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody:

The Board of Trade already has 17 Giro accounts and some salaries and wages are paid through Giro. The board is considering some additional uses. Pensions are paid by the Paymaster General.
