38. Mr. Moonman

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will initiate preliminary inquiries with the Commission of the European Economic Community on the work of its Civil Service and related matters arising from Great Britain's membership of the community.

Mr. Marten

asked the Minister without Portfolio what discussions he has had with the European Economic Community about matters which are of common interest to himself as Minister answering for Civil Service matters and his opposite numbers in the European Economic Community countries.

Mr. Shore:

It would be premature to make a start to discussions on European Economic Community staffing matters at this stage, pending the development of negotiations.
