Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many further education or technical colleges have been built since 1960; and what has been the increase of students, male and female, in each year to the nearest available date.

Mr. Ross:

Twenty-four new education authority colleges have been built since 1960 and one central institution has been completely replaced. Between sessions 1959–60 and 1968–69 the number of day students increased by over 43,000.

The following table gives the increase in each year.
