HC Deb 20 April 1970 vol 800 c8W
64. Mr. Crouch

asked the Minister of Technology why the failure of power suplies in East Kent following the blizzard of 4th March, 1970, was extensive, resulting in many houses being without electricity for more than 72 hours; whether he is satisfied that sufficient measures were taken to direct and co-ordinate the repair work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Williams:

Exceptional weather conditions caused extensive damage to overhead electricity lines. I am satisfied that the South Eastern Electricity Board took all possible measures to minimise the delay in restoring supplies.
