asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state the amount of money borrowed each year from the Public Works Loan Board for housing in Brighton for each year from 1951 to 1969.

The Public Works Loan Board does not retain complete records of advances which have been fully repaid. Loans, which are still outstanding in part, were made for housing purposes to Brighton Corporation as follows:

Between October, 1955, and March, 1964, the P.W.L.B. operated only as a lender of last resort to local authorities and no going back to 1953 was given in the 1964 issue of National Income and Expenditure.

loans were made to Brighton Corporation. Since April, 1964, P.W.L.B. loans have not been related to particular loan sanctions or purposes.
