§ 10. Mr. Wolrige-Gordonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many herds in the country which have been through the brucellosis scheme have been accredited and have then been reafflicted since the inception of the scheme; and what have been the reasons.
§ Mr. MackieReactors have been found in 312 of the 8,341 herds on the Register. Experience here and in other countries has shown that it is usually very difficult to establish the precise causes of reinfection. Some reactors have been adult vaccinates; others were young animals not previously tested which had been moved into the herd; and some were non-accredited animals introduced in breach of the scheme. In most cases, however, the origin remains obscure.
