Mr. Alan Lee Williams

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity (1) what representations have been made to her by the Waterman, Lighterman and Tugman's Union in respect of its dispute over manning scales with the Beagle Shipping Company; and if she will make a statement;

(2) what representations have been made to her by the Transport and General Workers Union in respect of its dispute over manning scales with the Beagle Shipping Company; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Harold Walker

My Department has had discussions with the Beagle Shipping Company, the T.G.W.U. and the W.L.T.B.U. about arrangements for the carriage of bulk petroleum products to St. Leonard's Wharf by self-propelled vessels instead of by dumb barges and has reported the situation to the T.U.C.
