HC Deb 13 April 1970 vol 799 cc188-9W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent contractual difficulties will cause alteration to the completion date of the M8 motorway.

Mr. Ross

The contractors who are taking over the construction of the Newbridge-Dechmont section of the M8 motorway hope that the road will be opened on schedule at the end of this year.

Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the sums paid in compensation and the reasons as a consequence of the building and planning construction of the M8 motorway.

Mr. Ross

The estimated cost of land and property acquisition, including compensation in respect of interests injuriously affected by the motorway, is £801,500, of which about £507,000 has so far been paid. It is not practicable to give more detailed information.
