Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many prisoners have been found in possession of offensive weapons in the last two years; and what action has been taken to deal with them.

35 in the two years to 31st December, 1969: the majority were dealt with under the Prison (Scotland) Rules, 1952, and awarded forfeiture of remission. In some cases, where the weapon was used, criminal proceedings ensued.
