§ Mr. ShoreThe candidate's overnight allowance was increased because it is derived from the 24-hours rates of subsistence for the Civil Service which were revised to take account of higher hotel charges. The normal rate for higher-paid civil servants visiting London is 88s.; for Assistant Secretaries and above it is 104s.
