HC Deb 26 November 1969 vol 792 cc92-3W
Mr. David Howell

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the estimated total cost of the export promotional activities of his Department being undertaken in the current financial year; and what is the proportion to be recouped through charges for services rendered.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

The estimated expenditure on export promotion is of the order of £6.5 million. Receipts from charges are esimated to be £150,000.

Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade by how much he proposes to increase expenditure on export promotion during 1970.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

It is too early to indicate how much it is expected to spend on export promotion in the next financial year, 1970–71. We can, however, give an assurance that we shall continue to accord the present high priority to this important area of activity.
