HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 c96W
Mr. Speed

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what has been the duration of the dispute involving London Transport underground maintenance men ; what action has been taken to resolve it by her Department ; and what reports she has received from the Trades Union Congress and the Commission for Industrial Relations on their activities in this matter.

Mr. Harold Walker

The strike by some 250 London Transport underground maintenance men began on 26th September. Officials of my Department have had talks with representatives of the London Transport Board and the two unions concerned but it was not possible to resolve the dispute. Following consultations with my officers, the T.U.C. is now discussing the matter with the unions.
