HC Deb 04 November 1969 vol 790 cc103-4W
Mr. Edward M. Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why he has asked Glasgow Corporation to contribute to the new Erskine housing project payments in excess of the normal overspill arrangements as a condition of the project going ahead ; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

I had offered that the Scottish Special Housing Association would build 4,000 houses at Erskine, which were to be allocated under arrangements specially favourable to the direct relief of Glasgow's waiting list, on condition that Glasgow Corporation would also build 2,000 houses there. If the Corporation are to build no houses at Erskine it seems only reasonable that they should be asked to make a special contribution, but this is being discussed with them.
